Patrol Camping

Troop 17 will go on multiple weekend camping trips during the year.  These will generally be identified as Patrol camping by unit leaders.  These trips are normally primitive camping where the location is accessed by vehicle but there are no amenities at the site.  Troop 17 has a trailer with most of the supplies needed for Scouts to participate in Patrol Camping and makes sure that these activities are accessible to all Scouts who wish to participate.

While the Troop will be out camping together, the patrol method is fundamental to these camping trips. Scouts work with their patrols to shop for food and supplies needed to camp, cook their own meals, work on Scouting activities as a patrol, and tent in their patrol area.   Through this Scouts get to enjoy the fun of camping while practicing the leadership and teamwork skills which come through the Patrol Method.
