Troop 17 was originally chartered in April of 1990 as a non-denominational unit with the charter organization of Foothill’s Baptist Church. The Troop has proudly served the community for over 35 years, instilling values of service, leadership, independence, and community into youth as they developed into future leaders.
In 2024 Troop 17 changed its charter organization to Mountain View Lutheran Church, thanking Foothill's Baptist Church for their many years of support. Troop 17 is looking towards the future working with the many Scouting America units chartered by Mountain View Lutheran and providing the best possible Scouting experiance to the Ahwatukee community.
